Crown Church, Hillingdon welcomes Word Onlne
The Word Online team were given a warm welcome by Crown Church, Hillingdon on Sunday, 8 June. What a great occasion! Crown Church, which has a diverse, multi-ethnic congregation, devote one Sunday each year as their International Giving Sunday. The occasion is colourful with flags decorating the hall and many people in various forms of national dress. The sense of many nations coming together to worship Jesus gives the meeting a real celebratory feel, a genuine outworking of the scripture promise that the day will come when multitudes from all tribes and peoples and languages will stand before the throne and before the Lamb.
Martin Charlesworth was able to share the vision behind Word Online with the congregation in the context of some heartfelt teaching on the church’s mission, both in the first century and in the twenty-first. He drew out many parallels, showing how rapid growth presented a challenge in terms of teaching and training new disciples and especially leaders. This challenge exists in many parts of the developing world today, no less than it did in the first century Mediterranean lands where the apostles first brought the good news and established many flourishing churches.
As this was a special occasion for the church, an international-themed buffet lunch was provided after the service and we were kindly invited to join. From various conversations it was clear that Martin's word has been well received, with much support for our ongoing projects.
Crown Church's pastor, Gavin Bissessar, commented: “It was a pleasure to host you and your team in June. Your message was timely and helpful as we continue to develop our vision for cross-cultural and international mission.”
