Here Paul focuses his teaching on a particular and complex problem facing the Corinthian church: how should they view the acts of pagan idolatry which took place in their local temples? In particular, how should they view the meat used in ritual pagan sacrifices to their gods? Paul also uses this issue as a basis to teach about how Christians should relate to different cultures as they seek to be faithful to Jesus Christ.
