Paul outlines his conversion experience and his calling from Jesus himself. This is to demonstrate his authority to preach the gospel. He explains his visit to the Apostles in Jerusalem and how they supported him in his ministry to the Gentiles.

Paul and his companions met with James and other leaders of the church in Jerusalem. Paul was asked to perform a Jewish ritual to please those Jewish Christians who followed Jewish laws. In the Temple, Jews from Asia Minor stirred up a riot against Paul in which Roman soldiers intervened.

On his way to persecute the Christians in Damascus, Saul has a very dramatic experience of the risen Jesus. He is blinded and shocked and waits three days for Ananias to come and baptise him, pray with him and confirm his calling. Both Ananias and Saul experience visions.

Following the martyrdom of Stephen, Saul led the persecution of the church in Jerusalem and many Christians left and went to Judea and Samaria. Philip begins his work as an evangelist and many Samaritans believe.

Once again the Jewish authorities are faced with the problem of what to do about the Apostles and their teaching. Amazingly, Gamaliel, one of the Sanhedrin encourages them to wait to see if this was a temporary religious group or God's. The Apostles are flogged and set free.

Following the healing miracle, the Jewish authorities act against Peter and John and put them in jail overnight. They demand that they no longer speak in the name of Jesus but Peter boldly preaches that Jesus is the only way of salvation.

The second appearance of Jesus is to the group of women who clasp his feet and worship him. The Temple guards are bribed to say that the disciples stole the body.

On Sunday the women discover the empty tomb and tell Peter and John. Mary stays at the tomb and Jesus appears to her and gives her the charge to tell the disciples.

Two members of the Sanhedrin bury Jesus, watched by a group of women. The divine Jesus did not die but went to be with his Father, but the human Jesus did die and was buried in a sealed tomb.

In the face of violent arrest, Jesus does not offer violence and rebukes Peter for using a sword. Jesus is in control of the scene and understands it must be so to fulfil scripture.
