Paul gives further teaching about food and hospitality in the Christian community. These are secondary issues but the Kingdom of God is about righteousness, peace and joy.

Paul warns the church about people coming in and causing division by false teaching or false motives. More of his colleagues and friends are mentioned.

Paul explains that God has a future purpose for the Jewish nation that has been hidden but has been revealed to Paul - that great numbers of Jews will believe in Jesus as the Messiah, once the number of Gentiles to believe is completed.

A plot to kill Paul makes him decide to travel by land to Jerusalem with a large team. On the way he visits the churches he has established to encourage them and organise leadership. At Troas, he shared with the church at length; Eutychus fell out of a window and died but then was resurrected.

Paul went to Philippi. He met Lydia at the place of prayer. She responded to the Gospel message. A slave girl disrupted Paul's work until he cast out the evil spirit from her in the name of Jesus, causing her owners to lose income. They took Paul and Silas to the magistrates, who beat and imprisoned them. Overnight God set them free through an earthquake. The jailer was saved and the magistrates escorted Paul and Silas out of the city.

The leaders of the church in Antioch send out Barnabas and Paul on a mission to the Gentiles. They go to Cyprus first and preach. The proconsul believes but there is spiritual opposition from Elymas the sorcerer. A miracle occurs.

Ananias and Sapphira were part of the community of the church. They lied about giving the whole amount from selling their field which was in fact embezzlement. They were hypocritical in trying to gain favour by doing this. They died as a result. The church grew in awe and respect for God and continued to grow in numbers.

Following the release of Peter and John, the church spend time in prayer. Their trust in God, their unity in the faith, and their generosity to fellow believers is evidenced. Barnabas, the 'son of encouragement' is introduced.

A remarkable healing miracle takes place in the Temple courts. Peter uses the opportunity of preaching to the crowd about Jesus and how through him the fulfilment of the Abrahamic covenant to bless all nations of the earth is made possible.

The Apostles had four priorities for the emerging, growing church - teaching, fellowship, breaking bread and prayer.
